The Shadow Government Timeline…

CTH always falls back upon timelines to see the larger motives, intents and operational objectives of participants.  No matter which entrance hole you follow down into the labyrinth – eventually you end up finding yourself in the same chamber, the treasury.

Every motive seems to consistently boil down to money.

Ideology without financing is as useful as a pancake to paddle a canoe.

As such – extrapolating from, and adding to, a…

BYE-BYE: UC Berkeley Loses Major Donor, Says It’s ‘For My Safety’

Scott Adams, creator of the popular comic strip Dilbert, received his MBA from UC Berkeley and has been a major donor ever since, both in money and time. He’s a strange guy to say the least but after seeing what happened to Milo, he had this to say.

He also took to his blog to elaborate on the issue. Looks like squelching freedom of speech doesn’t pay – literally in this case.

Here’s the…

Harvard Study Says Michigan Elections Less Democratic Than Cuba, North Korea, Iran

Former Federal Elections Commission Chairman calls study 'absurd'.

A former head of the Federal Elections Commission says an academic study on elections that recently made national news is “absurd” and subjective.

The study ranked Michigan’s elections as less democratic than those of Cuba, Iran and North Korea. It reports the perceptions of 726 election experts about the electoral integrity — or how ethical the democratic process is — in each…

Judge spanks transgender-obsessed Obama: You lie!

For a third time, a federal judge has affirmed a nationwide injunction against the Obama administration’s agenda to impose mandatory open-restroom policies on schools from coast to coast, scolding the White House for repeating old arguments and catching those who submitted the newest arguments in a lie.

The ruling this week from U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor left intact his nationwide injunction against Obama’s decision that transgender public school students can use the restroom…

Report: Fix VA benefits by making troops buy their own health insurance

A health policy expert at the libertarian Cato Institute is offering a radical idea to help reform the Department of Veterans Affairs and prevent future wars at the same time: Make troops and veterans pay for their own medical insurance.

In an online essay last week, institute Director of Health Policy Studies Michael Cannon recommends dropping the idea of free health care for veterans and instead offering better…

This Judge Was Appointed by Two Founding Fathers and Addressed Gun Control Almost Two Centuries Ago

This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty…The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most government it has been the study of rules to confirm this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color of pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.

— St. George Tucker from…

Legal loophole allows companies to fire military reservists who go to war

Kevin Ziober was a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve in 2012 when he received deployment orders to Afghanistan. On his last day of work before leaving, dozens of co-workers gathered for a sendoff. There was a cake and balloons. And then, Ziober says, he was summoned to the human resources office — and fired.

Ziober believes he was fired because of his military service and the inconvenience it caused his employer. If so, that would be a violation of federal law. The Uniformed Services…

A Texas-Sized VA Scandal

The increasingly frivolous Department of Veterans Affairs is closer than ever to becoming perennially incapable of getting its ducks in a row. The latest example of negligence comes from an “anonymous allegation” submitted to the VA Office of Inspector General concerning the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Houston, Texas. In a June 20 report, the IG probe exposed more of the same old story: “We…

Oberlin students want to abolish midterms and any grades below C

More than 1,300 students at the Midwestern liberal arts college have now signed a petition asking that the college get rid of any grade below a C for the semester, and some students are requesting alternatives to the standard written…

How Facebook Became The Old Media, Only Worse

Facebook is re-building the gatekeeper role once claimed by The New York Times editorial board, but with less accountability.

A report on the inner workings of Facebook’s “Trending Topics” headlines exposes how Facebook contractors routinely manipulated the news feed to exclude topics and news sources of interest to people on the right. Here’s how a whistleblower put…

Senate investigation finds 'systemic' failures at VA watchdog

WASHINGTON — A Senate investigation of poor health care at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tomah, Wis., found systemic failures in a VA inspector general’s review of the facility that raise questions about the internal watchdog’s ability to ensure adequate health care for veterans nationwide.

The probe by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee found the inspector general’s office, which is charged with independently investigating VA complaints, discounted…

What is an Assault Weapon?

For one thing, you will not find any at you local gun shops.  You will find semi-automatic rifles that look like assault weapons.  But that is all.  While they look like an assault weapon, they do not function like an assault weapon.

The rifles on the civilian market are only semi-automatics.  This means that you can only fire one round per trigger pull.  You have only two functions, safe and semi.

A true assault weapon has a third function, burst or auto. …

Care commission shocker: The push to privatize VA health care

By Tom Philpott

Seven of 15 outside health advisers appointed to recommend ways to improve veterans’ health services over the next two decades have proposed shutting down all Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and outpatient services, and having its nine million enrollees get their medical care in the private sector.

The 34-page “straw man” document released by the congressionally created Commission on Care calls…
