Happy Thanksgiving to All ... and Remember

We must not take our eyes off the ball during the holidays. They will use this time to their advantage.

We Gather Together -

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

I have spent a good many Thanksgivings away from home serving in the military.  The cooks on base bust their rears to put on a special feed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  A salute to the unsung cooks!

Ten years ago, I was in Iraq posted at the Baghdad Airport.  The Battalion cooks working out of a portable field kitchen did a super job cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for us.

What I didn't know until later was that President Bush snuck into the Baghdad Airport and served the dinner at the Bob Hope mess hall just after dark.  I was still stuffed and didn't know he was even on post.  I was only couple miles away.  I would have been honored to have been served by President Bush that day.  I still think highly of President Bush for doing that.

Come to think about it, Air Force One if it was using the normal departure had to have almost flown over the Team's house.

Salute President Bush for thinking of us on Thanksgiving!
